About This Paid Research Study

It is important for people with diabetes to control their blood sugar. Scientific studies have shown that good control of blood sugar delays the long-term complications of diabetes. Examples of complications from diabetes include heart disease, kidney failure, amputations, skin ulcers (sores) and blindness. Today, most people with diabetes monitor their blood sugar by sticking their fingertips or forearms to get a sample of blood. They apply the blood onto test strips and use a blood sugar meter to read their blood sugar level.

The Dexcom CGM System measures the amount of sugar in the tissue underneath your skin. It is possible that this system, or one like it, may be used in the future along with, or instead of, fingerstick blood sugar levels to help people with diabetes better manage their blood sugar levels. The Dexcom CGM System consists of a sensor, an applicator with a needle, and a receiver and/or smart device with mobile application. The applicator is used to place the wearable device onto your skin, and the attached needle is used to insert the sensor probe under your skin. The wearable device consists of the transmitter and sensor probe. The transmitter is about the size of a thumbprint. The sensor probe is about twice the thickness of a human hair.

The purpose of this study is to see how well the investigational Dexcom CGM System works, and how safe it is during activities of daily living when worn for up to 10.5 days. The System may be tested both while you are at home and when you are in the clinic.

You will participate in one sensor wear period, wearing up to three (3) sensors, which will last up to ten and a half (10.5) days with a 48-hour study device removal window. Visit 1 – Screening Visit, Visit 2 – Sensor Insertion, Visit 3 – Each Clinic Session (12-13hrs), Visit 4 – Each Clinic Session (12-13hrs), Visit 5 – Each Clinic Session (12-13hrs), Visit 6 – Sensor Removal.

You May Qualify If You Are:

  • Male or Female
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Must be diagnosed with type 1 or type 2 diabetes
