STUDY DESCRIPTON
ProSciento is currently seeking participants who may be at an increased risk for developing Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) or Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH).
This is not a treatment study. There is no study drug or study device. This study will gather information about you and your health to determine your liver health status and potential eligibility for future studies relating to NAFLD/NASH.
NAFLD (non-alcoholic fatty liver disease) /Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is the most common liver disease in the United States. The term NAFLD (non-alcoholic fatty liver disease) describes a range of liver disease progression. When fatty liver disease advances to a more severe level of liver injury, it is called nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) basically scaring of the liver tissue. Some risk factors for these diseases include: being overweight, Type 2 Diabetes, and elevated Lab Results for: blood sugar, or liver enzymes, or HbA1c.
We would schedule you for a screening visit A and B (if applicable). In the first part of the visit A, you will sign the informed consent, review inclusion/exclusion of study, medical history, demographics, blood work and a Fibroscan. If you do not continue to visit B on same day, you will get a stipend of $25, if you do continue to Visit B, we will perform a physical exam, blood draw, smoking/alcohol history and MRI/MRE suitability criteria, you will get a stipend of $25, a total of $50 for Visit A and B.
Based on the outcome of visit A and B, Prosciento may ask you to have a liver biopsy for a current or upcoming study. If biopsy is completed, you will receive a stipend of $300.
If you are found to be at risk, you may be asked to participate in a sub-study that would require a liver biopsy and MRI.
Also, you may be asked by Prosciento to have an MRI for a current or upcoming study. If MRI is completed, you will receive a stipend of $300.
You may qualify if you are:
- Male or Female:
- Between the ages of 18 and 75
- Diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes
- BMI higher than 25 (if not Type 2 Diabetic)
- HbA1c higher than 5.7%
- Elevated Liver Enzymes

STUDY DESCRIPTON
ProSciento is currently enrolling healthy volunteers in a new research study. If you qualify, you may receive a stipend starting at $1,100 for taking a single dose of study drug or placebo along with a 4 day in house and 3 overnight stay in ProSciento’s clinical research unit located in Chula Vista, California.
You may qualify if you are:
- 8 to 65 years old
- A non-smoker
- Generally healthy with no major medical conditions
- Currently taking no prescription medications
Volunteers may receive:
- A stipend up to $1975 for time and travel
- Consideration for research studies at ProSciento
